A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

It probably seems like an odd time to launch an online magazine. Like everything these days, this was not my plan. I had hoped to release this site on Mother’s Day, but as soon as the coronavirus hit and the quarantine began, I knew I had to get these essays out to you as soon as possible. (Sorry to my team for the rush!)

This isn’t just another website for moms.  It’s bigger than that. (I don’t know about you, but being a parent is just a slice of who I am. What about the rest of us?)

“We Found Time" is a literary retreat for anyone who craves connection and relishes that nod of recognition when they read something that resonates. It’s for new moms taking care of little ones. 'Tween parents. Empty nesters regaining their footing. Boomers taking care of their own parents. Grandparents. Dads who are struggling to find time to do the things they care about. Anyone who care-takes.

All the essays on this site have been written by authors I’ve interviewed on my award-winning podcast, “Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books." Five new essays each week will tackle what we feel we don’t have time to do and yet we do it anyway: work out, breathe, eat, read, and have sex. Without all of these things, what is there? Do we not have time for, well, life?!

Now we do.

COVID-19 has literally stopped us in our tracks. We’re all sequestered off in our homes with just our closest loved ones. Or, perhaps, alone. We suddenly have a lot of time on our hands. Time at home. Time to regroup.  And I can feel it deeply: we are all scared and craving understanding. Meaning. We can’t be together but stories, like these, can unite us as they have for generations — those that have come before us and many that will come after us.

These essays will make you think. They’ll make you laugh. Make you cry. And make you rethink how you want to live your life once this quarantine is over and far beyond. Most of all, they’ll remind you that you’re not alone. We’re all in this together emotionally, even though we’re physically apart.

We found time. Let’s spend it together.

Stay safe, everyone.
